She stared at the digital clock in the dark on the tiny, white nightstand as the minutes ticked by slowly.  Closing her eyes, she willed herself to fall asleep.  After of what she thought was forever and a life time, she opened her eyes and looked at the clock.  It read: 3:59 A.M.  She let out an exasperated breath into her pillow and then laid like that for a few minutes.  She had been doing this and tossing and turning for three hours now.

Suddenly, she heard something move behind her back in her room.  She froze and didn't dare to breathe a single breath.  After a while of focusing her ears to hear another sound, she heard nothing.  She shifted to the side she heard the noise on and attempted sleep again by closing her eyes.

Then again, there was the noise.  She was wide awake instantly and this time, she rose up and sat under the blanket looking around the dark room.  A single, solitary blue light shone from the corner of her room – her night-light.

Dark took over the room in a sudden flash of nothing and she was frightened and convinced there was something - or to her horror, someone -  in the room.  Taking the blankets and shutting her eyes, she covered her face and took a few deep, but quiet, breaths of air.  Right before the third planned breath, she heard a dark chuckle - or two? -  from the direction of the once-bright light and chills ran through her body.  She didn't dare call out like they did in movies, she knew better.  Or did she?  Maybe she should get up like nothing even happened and try to turn the light back on.  She was being ridiculous, the bulb probably just went out.

The springs in her old mattress creaked and groaned when she stood and the noise was deafening in the now-then silence.  She heard nothing walking over to the lamp in the far corner, but she didn't dare check behind her back for fear of something behind her.  Barely even uttering a breath, she felt around for the light on her writing desk in the corner.  Then, her hand hit something solid and she prayed to the Lord Jesus Above it was the lamp.

Feeling around for the switch under the cover for a while, she found it and put her hand on it to turn it on and shut her eyes because she knew it would be bright after all of the darkness.

With her eyes closed and her hand on the switch, she pushed it to turn the light on.  Her eyelids became a blood red color and she knew the bulb still worked.  She moved her hand off the lamp and onto the wooden writing desk and gripped the edges.  Opening her eyes, she noticed she was staring strait at the lamp.

Then, in the corner of her eye, she saw something that didn't look like the color of wood or even the texture.  She turned her head barely, knowing she would regret it later, and saw an ugly, medium-sized creature sitting right on the desk.  He looked at her in the eyes and then looked at her up and down and then smirked at her and pointed down to his thigh.  Stupidly, she looked down and saw her own hand was on his thigh.  She wrenched back her hand and looked at him with a disgusted face and he just smirked more and shrugged.

She backed up to get away from him, possibly to get something to hit him with.  The creature looked like an overgrown toad except with hair on his body, teeth (pointed ones at that), and separated arms and legs.  It was creepy and unnatural; not right by nature.  Whatever it was, it looked like something out of the stories she had read.  But then again, a few famous people looked like things out of books she read.  Maybe the creature was famous.  Then, she wondered if it could talk.

She turned back around to her desk with her mouth half open to find out that the creature had disappeared.  Where could it have gone though?  She didn't know and she didn't continue thinking about it because just then, there was a tap on her shoulder and she turned around without thinking.

She came face-to-face with another creature like the second one but it looked like a little wrinkled person with sharp teeth.

It smiled at her, showing almost every single tooth and she backed up out of fright.

Backing up, she didn't think she was going to run into anything, but, she did.  Whipping around to see what she had bumped into, it was another creature like the two before.  This one was a bit harrier than the other too and looked a bit more frightening.  Trying to get away from this new, harry creature, and the other one with pointed teeth, she retreated back over to her bed.  Getting there, she found another one and she turned around and found another creature!  The were circling her and enclosing around her.  As they got close enough to touch her, she opened her mouth to scream out but, she noticed the first one she had seen put his finger up to his lips and shake his head.

The large windows in her room came open with a loud bam! Her and all of the creatures turned to see what had come into the window.

What stood there next was ridiculous and simple from what had led up to this point.  Nothing frightening was sitting on her window sill.  Nothing nasty and slimy was coming in through the window and nothing evil was creeping through it.  It was just a plain thing.  Something she saw everyday at least a million times walking to school and coming back.

It was a cat.  A plain black cat.  No markings, no twin-tails, no creepy, sharp smile.  Although, it's eyes were a bit strange.  They were yellow and shone with a sickly yellow color.  She stared at it, and it just sat on her window sill, watching her.  The strange cat swished its tail back and forth around its feet a few times.  It blinked and then jumped off the window sill.

When it jumped, it morphed into a tall man with black hair that looked like the cat's fur.  His clothes were regal and a bit strange.  They were dark colors like navy, black, and what looked like purple.  It was like something out of the books I read.  Maybe one of them had prepared me for the moment?  She doubted it.

"Ama."  He had spoken her name.  First of all, how did he know it?  On second though, she didn't want to know after all.  "Ama."  This time when he said it, he took a step forward and the creatures cleared a tiny path from he to him to her.  He took a few more steps and she back up.  She backed up so far that she hit the circle of creatures and walked forward a bit to get away from them, almost bumping into the strange man.  He took me by the shoulders and said my name again, "A - ma." She wrinkled up my nose and shoved his hands off with my own.  "H - how do you know my n - name?"  She asked a bit quietly, not able to look at his eyes which were trying to look in hers.

He took her head with his hand under her chin and tilted it up to where her eyes met his.  She only looked into them for a split second, but in that second, she saw everything.  Although, it wasn't the everything she wanted explained.  It was her life.  Everything about her life, everything that ever happened.  When her parents told her they were getting a divorce, moving out with her mom and looking for a house, and then her mother finding another man so fast.  She also saw her mess-ups, her happy days, her days where nothing went right, and the days she felt it was the most boring day on Earth.  She was caught for that second and then it broke.  Her gaze wavered and broke, her eyes flying to the tiny croud of creatures that was slowing diminishing.

"Ama."  He said a bit more clearly with it sounding a bit suave this time.  Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw a tiny smirk.  "Do not look away, dear.  There is no use.  You cannot avoid my voice."  The strange man turned her neck with a flick of her wrist to face him and she thought she heard a pop come from her neck and felt a dull pain spring up.  She had no choice but look at him in the eyes.  But, the memories did not come back this time like she expected.  This strange man was playing mind games and she didn't enjoy them one bit.  Ama glared at him with a deep hatred.
"Young child, you do not even know why I am here.  Why do you already hate me so?"

"Because you're playing with me.  Stop it."  She hissed through gritted teeth.  "Oh?  You do not want me toying with you anymore?  Alright you silly child.  Just remember, you said it."  With that comment, Ama grew a bit wary.  With that comment, the stranger's facial features grew almost demonic and his smirk grew from ear-to-ear evilly and his teeth grew pointed and large in his mouth.  In the next moment, it was all a dark blur to her and then pain shot through her back and up to her head.  She winced and moaned in pain.  She never heard the loud bang! as her body hit the wall, she didn't ever realize it was her own body.  Ama did care about anything but the pain she was feeling now in her back, head and neck.

"Want me to stop toying with you  now Ama?  I've come for serious business and if you intend to continue to put on the act of a fool who is not scared then I will make you one."
"SRZ BIZ-NAZ." He says.
